Liv's room
About the room
Hi everyone! My name is Liv and I’m an incoming PhD student (22 years old) at UofT looking for a roommate to share my beautiful 2 bed 2 bath in Yorkville. The building itself is gorgeous (plus it has a 24 Hr concierge, a fitness club, a yoga studio, and oddly a virtual golf lounge among quite a few other neat amenities), it’s in an amazing area, and in my humble opinion, it comes with an awesome roommate :) If you want to know a little more about me, feel free to message me. The pictures here are from the original listing, but I’m happy to send some pictures of how it looks fully furnished.
The room available comes with a full detached bathroom and a great view. The entire unit is furnished, including your bedroom which has a bed/mattress, desk and chair, lamp, night stand, and a couple of small shelf/tables. Water and heat are included in the rent, so that leaves us to split hydro (which at its absolute highest one month last year was $45 per person but is usually around $30) and wifi which is $35/month.
The unit features a great kitchen equipped with a full sized fridge, oven, range, microwave, dishwasher, plus my coffee maker, kettle, and toaster you’re welcome to use. The apartment is hardwood in all areas except the bedrooms (which are carpet) and kitchen/baths (which are tile). There is also a balcony in the living room, an in-suite washer and dryer, and the apartment is a corner unit.
The rental start date can be any time from June first to September first and will preferably last until at least July of 2026. I will be at U of T for at least the next four years, so I’m open to renewing the lease at the end of the year.
About the roomies
My name is Liv and I am starting my PhD in music and health sciences at UofT this fall! I just finished my masters here in the same field this summer and my undergrad (B.Mus in music cognition with a minor in English and cultural studies) at McMaster the year before that. Last year was my first year living away from home and I loved it. I am very close to my family (especially my mum and 19 year old sister) that I like to go home to visit often. In my humble opinion I’m great roommate material. I’m very friendly/social, and although I’m a little scattered and can be messy in my own spaces, I am super clean overall (and quite a germaphobe actually!). I’m a quieter person overall but I like being around people and love to talk lol. I prefer to cook/bake for myself rather than eat out on a regular basis, but I love checking out new places in the city and am really looking forward to do some more exploring! I really like taking advantage of the city and I’m up to pretty much any experience (although I will say that you’ll be hard pressed to get me dancing) as there’s good company! Not a big host aside from a friend or two every now and then, but I love going out. As a rule I prefer a pub to a club but also love coffee shops, shopping, and general wandering. Nothing against nights in either. I think that it would be really great to be friends with my roommate :)
I like to hang out with friends and family, play/listen to music, listen to audiobooks, play video games, shop, go out for a drink or a coffee and just explore. With all that being said, I really am up for anything (as long as it’s not too outdoorsy lol) and can find something in common with pretty much anyone. I love getting out, but I can enjoy staying in as well. I do put on a mean movie night.
I am incredibly easy-going, and as cheesy as it sounds, I really value kindness over pretty much everything. I am a very communicative person and I’d love to live with someone similar.
As my education might suggest, music is a huge part of my life. I play a whole bunch of instruments, but I played classical double bass (the huge one) for my undergrad. I also listen to music quite a lot (Mother Mother mostly) and audiobooks when I’m all music-ed out. I absolutely love reading (especially classic lit), but I’m a very slow/unfocused reader, so I mostly stick to audiobooks. I also really like video games and board games, but I promise not to force any participation. I’m a bit of a general hobby person too. I pick up lots of random stuff but I’m not very good at any of it.
