About the room
Looking for a longer-term roommate (1 year minimum but hoping for 2+ years because I plan on staying here for the time being for the cheap rent, and roommate hunting is a pain) to rent out the unfurnished master bedroom in a 2bed 1bath 70s apartment in the heart of James Bay. 5 min walk or less to two grocery stores and within walking distance of several bus routes. Oh yeah, and 10 minutes or less to the ocean. The only downside is that the nearest buses to UVic are about a 20 minute walk up to Fort Street so the location might not be ideal for a student without a car. Parking available for an extra fee (I believe it’s about $75 a month but I’d have to check with the building manager) and street parking is available but fairly competitive. Unfortunately this is not a pet friendly building. The building manager is also extremely strict about the no-smoking policy, but has no problem as long as it gets taken off the property to the boulevard.
The common areas of the unit are furnished but there’s probably room for additional pieces if you have things you want to bring.
Ideal roommate would be 25+ but I’m flexible as long as you’re quiet and respectful. References from previous roommates or landlords are a bonus.
Rent Breakdown: Actual Rent - $770/mo Electricity - $15/mo (estimated around 60 bimonthly but happy to leave it at that unless our usage skyrockets) Internet - $64/mo
About the roomies
I’m a 31 year old writer on disability and my desk setup is in the living room so I’m around most of the time (bonus if you need someone around to receive packages), however I don’t expect you to avoid common areas and am happy to share the space. I’m a bit of a geek and I love books, films, and the occasional video game binge. I’m also trans and anyone who moves in will need be cool about queer people.
