About the property
Looking to find a housemate to share my home with. Would prefer to start with just 1 roomie, but if both bedrooms are rented the cost will go down to $1000 for each. I am just looking to make enough to help cover the cost of this place, but don’t want to overcrowd it either. Choice of 2 bedrooms to pick from, with some furnishings available if needed. Largest bedroom available is about 124 sq.ft. All bedrooms are on top floor, have quick access to main bathroom. Powder room also available in basement. Kitchen comes equipped with dishwasher and standard appliances. Basement has Laundry area with washer and dryer, and extra room to be used as pantry/laundry storage. Main area includes dining room next to kitchen, with more storage space for food and supplies, along with a spacious living room next to it. Living room is lightly furnished and open to redecorating. It also provides immediate access to back porch and backyard area. There is also a front balcony accessible through the kitchen. Additional rooms on top and main floor are open to different uses, and I would like to work with whoever moves in to make the house a place we can both enjoy. Naturally this means some level of common ground between us, but there is plenty of space to play with here. Finally there is also a garage and driveway available for parking. If the garage is kept clear, there are some other uses that can be found for it as well. I also have to mention that there are two cats in the house. They are very friendly, but also nervous around new people. I ask that you can at least get along with them to make things easier for everyone. Anyone with severe allergies or distaste for cats or animals would probably not be satisfied here.
The location is somewhat secluded in a nice townhouse complex, but also has immediate access to HSR bus stop (less than 2 mins away). Some take-out/fast food is available right across the street, but also a few minutes walk down the road where there is a small plaza with a diner, gas station, 24/7 convenience, and other smaller shops such as pharmacy, hairdressers, and more. Main west mall plaza about 1 km away, which has further selection of dining options. Fortino’s grocery store 1.5 km, and University Plaza with many other stores also 1.5 km nearby in the opposite direction. Beyond immediate area; location is right in between Ancaster and Dundas, so a short drive or bus trip can grant you access to Meadowlands Square and Dundas, which both offer many more shopping and entertainment options. House is also about 2 km away from McMaster, and the bus right outside goes directly to campus and then continues to downtown Hamilton. Despite the convenient access to these different locations, it is also close to the Niagara escarpment and many different trails and natural areas, including the Bruce trail and Cootes Paradise conservation area. All that to say that it is a great home and location with a lot to offer! For anyone interested, I would like to spend a short bit of time getting to know each other, preferably in person at a nearby coffee shop or such, if possible. Right after that we can arrange a viewing assuming there are no obvious issues. I am not overly picky and don’t want to draw out the process too long for either of us, but also want to have a small buffer before choosing to invite someone into the house. I hope anyone who’s interested can understand, but if you feel this living arrangement can work for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Personally, I am a guy in my early 30s just working full time and trying to support this house on my own. I hope to find someone in a similar situation who wouldn’t mind a shared living arrangement and has a steady income. I’m not one for large parties or gatherings, but can also be very relaxed with things such as loud music throughout the day. I can be very easy-going, as long you are not damaging the house or leaving a huge mess everywhere. I’m all about respecting each other’s privacy, and am fine to mostly keep to ourselves, but there is also plenty of common area in the house to socialize for more extroverted people. I have lived with many others here over the years and have made it work with many different personalities. I also have a good idea of who I would get along with best from this experience. That’s why I prefer briefly getting to know each other first, as it can save us both some time if we’re both honest with what we’re looking for.
Thank you to all that have taken the time to read this. I hope everyone can find what you’re looking for, and if that happens to be a room here, then let’s connect right away! I am currently working remotely so my schedule is very flexible.
