About the room
Offering: room in a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment
Rent: $925 (includes internet, utilities are extra $25-50/month)
Location: St.James Town, near Bloor/Sherbourne, 5 minute walk from Sherbourne Station
Term: month to month, ideally longer term
Date available: September 1st preferred, but move in date flexible (early as August 12, late as October 14th)
Accessibility: 7th floor, elevators in building, (steep/bumpy) ramp at the front. Unfortunately the building does not have automatic front doors and the bathroom isn’t accessible for certain mobility aids
Required Documents: Roommate agreement, First and Last
About The Unit: The unit was renovated prior to me moving in about 3 years ago. The apartment faces east. There’s no balcony.
Your bedroom: size is approximately 12.1 feet by 7.4 feet with a closet. I understand the room is on the smaller side, so happy to negotiate you having extra storage in shared spaces. There is one window facing an elementary school. The room is currently furnished with a bed, but if you have your own, the bed will be gone prior to you moving in. There are also curtains/fan/air filter; if these are also not needed, they will be removed, otherwise you are welcome to use them!
Laundry: Laundromat in the building basement
Temperature: There is central heat (controlled by the building management), but no central AC. I have a portable AC unit set up in the living room that’s pretty effective, and you are welcome to set up a portable AC unit in your bedroom.
Sound: The walls are thick concrete, so sound doesn’t travel very much between rooms. You can hear sounds in hallways coming from the doors, otherwise the sound control is very good.
Pets: I have two very sweet cats. They are very food-motivated kitties, so food cannot be left out. I’m okay with other small pets that are in enclosed spaces (lizards, snakes, hamsters, etc.). No dogs/rabbits/other larger animals. Other cats can be discussed, depending on if our cats have compatible temperaments.
Cleaning: I like common spaces to be kept clean. I know everyone has different routines/methods of cleaning, so I’m happy to negotiate a system that works for everyone.
About the roomies
My name is Mik. I’m a 27 year old white transmasculine person (they/he). I have been living in Toronto for about 4 years now. I work as a nurse in the harm reduction/trans healthcare field. I love painting, bicycle trips, ice skating, cooking, spending quality time with pals/partners. I have lived with many housemates over the years. Best case scenario would be being able to be friends with each other, but as long as there’s respect and open communication, I’m flexible with what kind of housemate relationship develops. Would like to live with another queer/trans person if possible.
