The room: Unfurnished bedroom, about 13x11ft. One large, North facing window and ensuite bathroom. Large closet, light vinyl flooring. See floor plan for dimensions - this is from a few units below us but the floor plan is nearly identical.

The unit: Partially furnished 2 bed, 2 bath, about 1000sqrft unit. Heat, water, and electricity included in rent. Full kitchen with electric oven + range, dishwasher, microwave, French door refrigerator. In unit washer and dryer. Balcony overlooking 109th street, great natural light year round. Tile kitchen, vinyl living room. Good storage and space in-unit.

The building: 1970s construction. Clean, well maintained, and VERY secure. Sauna, gym (weights, bench, bike, treadmill), social room, and game room all accessible to tenants and can be rented for special events. Super easy access to LRT and certain bus routes. Only four units per floor, so its very quiet. There are empty underground/above ground spots, but you’d have to negotiate that with the owner of the spot.

I will be the only other roommate. My name is Katie, I’m a 25 year old graduate student at UAlberta. I use they/she pronouns, and am happy to be referred to by either or both. I work full time for the University and pet sit with Rover on the side, so my hours are a little inconsistent. I rarely work from home. I have an adult cat who needs to be the only pet in the home. She’s friendly but doesn’t get along with other animals long-term. I suppose if you had fish or something that would be fine, but you would have to keep them in your room for their own safety. I want to establish a friendly co-living environment before any kind of friendship. I drink occasionally, mostly socially but will have a glass of wine with dinner. I am not opposed to cannabis in the form of drinks or edibles. The building is smoke friendly but I am not. In my free time I like to read, watch tv, cook, go dancing, and am trying to get back into going to the gym.
