About the room
Hi there! We have an unfurnished room available in a shared apartment in the High Park North area, a couple minutes walk to the subway station, and right near the park itself. The building is a triplex on a fairly quiet, residential street. It’s a bit of an older building, but it’s in a great area, and the apartment is fairly spacious.
In addition to the private 10’X10’ bedroom, there is a shared kitchen, dining area, bathroom, and living room. Our unit is on the top floor of a walk-up building, and it is accessible via the front and rear stairwells. There is a laundry room in the basement with coin-operated machines. As far as parking goes, there is currently a space available for a small vehicle; an additional fee is required to rent it (specific rate to be negotiated with landlord).
Rent will be $1,000/month, plus internet and hydro (which varies slightly from month to month, depending on usage). In total, the average is usually around $1,045/month, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less.
We are currently looking for a new tenant to join us for April 1st. The landlord will require an Equifax credit check, a letter of employment with contact info, references from two previous landlords, and two personal references.
About the roomies
We are two millennial men; one of us works in meeting and event support for the public sector, and the other works in retail and event-hosting. We are easygoing, down-to-earth people, and are hoping to find a roommate who shares those qualities.
Neither of us smoke, so we would prefer our new roommate to also be a non-smoker. If you do periodically smoke, then we would ask that you do so outside of the building only.
One of us does not drink alcohol, the other does so only occasionally. We have no objection to periodic alcohol use or socializing; however, if you are a hard-drinking, hard-partying sort of person, then you will probably not be the best fit for this apartment.
We do not have pets, and we ask that you don’t either, unless it’s something that resides in a cage or aquarium.
We consider the apartment to be a safe and inclusive space. One of us is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, so a new roommate must be accepting of that.
Our new roommate will certainly be welcome to socialize with us (i.e. for a movie night, game night, etc.), but we would also understand if you’d prefer to keep more to yourself. If you have any questions about us or the apartment, please do not hesitate to send a message and ask.
